Colinas de Poas

Well, after working hard for many weeks, the school decided to take a Paseo and enjoy a day of fun and excitement by going Zip-Lining at Colinas de Poas. Poas is a dormant volcano about an hour and a half from school whose crater is noted to be one of the largest in the world. However, it being rainy season, we could not see the crater due to the clouds covering any view of it. So, instead, we went to a place nearby where we got to go Zip-Lining! It was such fun!! Here's myself with a group of the girls all ready to hit the cables! Here I am going down my first cable. The only down side would be that, since it is the rainy season and the mountains are up in a cloud forest, it rained the entire two hours we were outside on the cables. But what a rush it was to fly over the tops of the trees on a cable hanging by a harness with your gloved hand on the cable as your only means of slowing your speed or braking. Here I am on another cable. We were only able to go on 10 of cables because the rain made some of them too dangerous. But the final cable was well worth it!! 600 meters long (or 6 soccer fields) this cable carried you out well above the trees and gave a spectacular view. It was incredible and made the two hours out in the cold rain worth it! :)
